Oh Dear...

Hey guys,
I'm really not very good at updating this am I?!
Owells... here goes an absolutely huge post about my activities since Oct :)

Well I did the photo of Mary like i mentioned below, but the other part of the unit was also to do a still life.

I ended up doing a self-portrait still life by including my drum pedal (as im a drummer - or try to be!) and some ribbon/ballet and tap shoes to symbolise my hobby of dancing!
My idea was to create a narrative within the photo...
My tap shoe would be playing my drum pedal which would also have the ribbon floating away from it towards my ballet shoes (ribbon was to represent a sound wave), My ballet shoes were also placed to look as if they were dancing to the music - I liked this idea as it created a sense of movement within my still life, a further representation of my dancing! Whether this comes across when you look at the image I'm not sure but hey, at least i tried!

Some digital practise shots.....

My final printed in the darkroom ....

So yepp that was that! :) Quite pleased with my final result even though I would probably do it differently if I did it again!

The next deadline was to create a book cover! I chose to do the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown as i think it's a totally awesome read! When in italy in oct I made my parents take me to Florence so I could go see the statue of Da Vinci to get a pic... they did and it's featured in my cover ;) I was going to also go to Roslyn Chapel in Edinburgh as it is featured in the book but 1. You're not allowed to take photos inside and 2. I couldn't have taken photos outside either as at the moment they have a large tarpaulin covering the building due to damp. So that was out of the question.
Had several problems with photoshop on this one as me being me had to have about 35 layers in all, creating a huge document which kept on corrupting - i thankfully managed to sort it in the end!!

I was also recently asked to do a shoot with a fellow student for Red Bull at a gig they were running in Edinburgh. Had a really good day and met some awesome bands!! :)
We decided to go for the soundcheck just to get used to the venue which was definitely worthwhile as we met another promoter who we ended up doing more work for! (More about that in a minute!) Before the actual gig, we chatted with some of the band, untangled necklaces (which was a nightmare) ,put up posters and of course had some red bull!!

Some shots from the day......

Go check out my other pics from the gig on flickr - link

So yeah, from this gig we were asked to shoot another the following weekend at The 3 Sisters Loft in Edinburgh. The promoter from Colossal Promotions (myspace.com/colossal_promotions_inc)
had organised a gig called 'Santa Rocks' to start off the festive season - another great night!

Once again more shots from this gig on flickr - link

If you're still reading this then definitely well done!! :)
I've done another shoot since these ones but I'm still sorting through them, i shall also blog it once I'm done!
Have an amazing Christmas and New Year everyone!!! :) <3
